Use a standard irc client, like xchat.

Configure it to connect to the freenode network (irc.freenode.net)
and to join a channel called #gazpacho

There's also a #pygtk channel which may be of interest.

Btw, the pida project started to work on gazpacho integration, they seem to
be pretty far already, you can find out what they are doing here:
